direct response television advertising, the future of infomercialsI think the future of infomercials will be more in societies face then ever before. At this point people only have to deal with direct response television advertising during late night or mid-day TV. It can get annoying especially when the audio levels for an advertisement are pushed way up sending you scrambling for the volume control but we can for the most part avoid them.

I see a future where advertisements have completely taken over. We are already beginning to see online videos that are prefaced with an advertisement. When projection technologies become more widespread and cheap, I bet direct response television advertising will leave the TV and start being broadcast on any surface that has a lot of viewers. Malls will be prime targets and will have incentive to allow such things because of the money.

Imagine if all forms of public transportation had video monitors that reeled off advertisements. People would watch them and probably buy more of those products. Public transport could even start charging less for rides after receiving advertising kickbacks. This could be good or turn really bad.
